History of Beaconsfield The suburb of Beaconsfield was named after a sugar plantation and sugar crushing mill that operated in the area from 1882 to 1893. The Mackay Golf Club was established in the area in 1928 but wasn’t developed until the end of World War II. In addition to the golf club, the construction of an on-site dam brought more developments to the area causing its population to swell over time.
