History The town of Bedfordale was founded in the 1890s by John Lefroy, who opened up farming land in the area. It is now an agricultural region in Western Australia. A small township with a population of approximately 1,000, the town is situated close to the Great Southern Highway, about 14 kilometres from Albany.The town was established in 1907 as a result of the building of the Great Southern Railway line that connected Albany with Perth. The station opened on 18 April 1908, and within 12 months there were over 400 people living in tents and shacks around the station.In 1909, a school was established by the Church of England which later became Bedfordale Christian College.Bedfordale has grown steadily since its establishment due to its proximity to Albany and the main highway between Perth and Albany.
