History of Bentley Park Bentley Park was named after Bentley, located in the West Midlands metropolitan county in England. The English township was home to Bentley Hall, where King Charles II hid after his defeat in the civil war in 1651. The Yidinji clan dominated Bentley Park before the European arrival. Isaac Abraham Hartill was the first to settle in the area. The settlement grew to have schools, post office and transport amenities by the early 1900s. With the growth of Cairns as a significant tourist and commercial centre, it was absorbed into the city's urban planning.
