History of Berrinba Berrinba is an Aboriginal term that means “towards the south”. The area was declared a suburb of the City of Brisbane on 1 November 1971. However, the Logan City and Brisbane City councils agreed to transfer the suburb to the LGA of Logan City in 1979 - this was only implemented in January 1997.
The suburb’s first school, Berrinba East State School, opened here on 24 January 1977.
