History Blakeview is a small town in South Australia, which has seen some recent development.In 1854 Blakeview was first opened as a stop on the railway line between Adelaide and Melbourne. The town was named after the first stationmaster, William Blake. The town had a population of just over 2,000 people in 2011 with around 1,400 of those being Australian born citizens. In the late 1800s, a larger group of settlers from New South Wales arrived and opened up several more farms. In 1906, the town was officially established as a "village" and it became a Town in 1947.It was established as an agricultural town with many farms which still exist today.Blakeview has grown recently due to new developments, with plans for more new homes being built.
