It sits at an elevation of 484 metres above sea level and is located 68 km from Melbourne and 14 km from Gisborne. Bullengarook is bordered by the suburbs of Trentham, Woodend, Macedon, Gisborne, and Bacchus Marsh.
Living in Bullengarook Bullengarook is a rural locality accessible via the road from Gisborne to Bacchus March. This suburb has a small population, and because of that, the facilities available are also quite limited. There was once a primary school, but it was eventually closed due to the low enrollee rate. It does have its own fire station and a Recreation Reserve. The land where the reserve is located was donated to the local government council by a local landowner. The reserve features various recreational facilities such as a tennis court, pavilion, equestrian facilities, children’s pony club, and cricket ground.
History of Bullengarook The name of this rural town is based on an Aboriginal expression that describes a lonely place and a big lake. During the 1860s, the area was a farming settlement. Towards the end of the 19th century, a post office and a school opened in the area.
