History Burnside is a suburb in the City of Burnside council area in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide. It is primarily a residential suburb. It was named Burnside, an amalgamation of the Scottish word for creek, "burn" and "side" because of the original property's location on the side of Second Creek. Burnside is 7.5 kilometres east of the Adelaide city centre by road. In 1847, the first Europeans settled in the area and called it 'Sandridge', but after a few years the name was changed to Burnside. Established in 1876 it had a population of around 100 people. Burnside is a beautiful place with many natural features such as hills, mountains, and vegetation. It also has two beautiful lakes that are popular for fishing.The average income is low, and most people work in agriculture or livestock production.In Burnside, there are three churches, two schools, and four pubs.
