History of Caboolture The Gabbi Gabbi Aboriginal group was the first inhabitants of the Caboolture district. Its name came from the word "Kabultur", which meant "place of the carpet snake." The Europeans only came in 1842, led by the Archer brothers, who set up a home near Woodford. By the 1860s, its sale began, and timber and pastoralists began occupying the area. As Caboolture continued to progress as a town, the Caboolture Divisional Board was created in 1879, later renamed the Caboolture Shrine Council in 1902. The suburb underwent a significant development when the railway line from Brisbane opened in 1888, marking its urbanisation.
