Living in Cannon Valley The Shute Harbour Road runs through the north and south of Cannon Valley, connecting it to nearby suburbs, Cannonvale and Mount Marlow. Along this road are a few lodging facilities, and a petrol station.

History of Cannon Valley The locality was named by George Strong Nares, the commander of HMS Salamander after Richard Cannon, who was a surgeon on the ship.
Sales of lots in the area started in 1904, where the town was then known as Cannonvale, which is now a nearby locality.
A state school opened in Cannon Valley in 1910; however, it was decided that the school should be relocated to Cannonvale, as most of the students attending were from the said locality.
