History of Chelmer The area was named after the Chelmer rail station, built-in 1881 and was titled after the Chelmer Creek in Essex, England. Initially, the station was identified as Oxley Point and Riverton. Furthermore, E. Smith sold off 226 subdivision allocations of the "Municipality of Riverton on the Brisbane Rivers" Property in July 1884, while Todd Bidder sold off 168 subdivision allocations of the "Chelmer Estate" in November 1901. According to a map promoting the sale, the estate is close to the Creek, Chelmer Rail Station, and the golf course.
