Overview Childers is a rural suburb situated in the Bundaberg Region of Queensland. It is located on the Bruce Highway and is 325 kilometres north of Brisbane and 52 kilometres southwest of Bundaberg. The suburbs surrounding Childers are North Isis, Apple Tree Creek, Doolbi, Kullogum, and South Isis. As of the 2016 census, Childers has a population of 1,584.
Living in Childers Childers was a sugar cane service town that has developed itself as a National Trust town. The local council dubs the area as a “historic village”, driving more tourists to visit the location. Tours offered in Childers include a heritage walk on Churchill Street, where most of the historical buildings are located.
