Overview Curtin is a diversely populated suburb in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It is part of the Wooden Valley District and neighbours with the following suburbs: Yarralumla, Hughes, Deakin, Weston, and Lyons. As of the 2016 census, the population of Curtin was 5,238.

History of Curtin Curtin opened its doors to new residents in 1964. Since then, the style of homes here has not been changed. In recent history, there were two bushfires in Curtis in 2001 and 2003. The 2003 bushfire was more significant and caused damage to a few homes that have since recovered. The Curtin Milk Bar used to be a famous attraction of this area, as it was the longest-running café with its original layout since the 1970s. Unfortunately, the café permanently closed its doors in December 2017.
