History Dharruk is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 46 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Blacktown and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. Dharruk was first occupied by Aboriginal people, who were living in the area for about 20,000 years. The Darug nation occupied the greater Sydney region.The first European explorers to visit Dharruk were probably Phillip Parker King and George Bass in 1796. They only briefly explored the coast south of Sydney before sailing up the coast to what is now Newcastle.
