History of Hebersham Hebersham was named after Reginald Heber of Calcutta, an Anglican Bishop whose diocese was part of New South Wales. As early as 1829, the trustees of the Clergy and Schools Lands in NSW wanted to establish the village of Hebersham west of Eastern Creek. It did not, however, materialise. The name Hebersham was, however, still used for the suburb.
