Elanora Heights began to exist in 1929 as the Elanora Heights Estate, and miners were the first to attempt to live here. The Royal Sydney Golf Club bought a massive chunk of the town where the Elanora Country Club was built. In the late 20th century, the suburb's name was abbreviated to 'Elora', but the original name is still being used by many.
