History Fairview Park is a north-eastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia within the City of Tea Tree Gully. It is at the base of the Adelaide Hills. In 1843, a large area of land was set aside by the South Australian Company as a farming estate.In 1851, the first lot of land was sold to a Scottish settler.In 1853, it was named Fairview Park after its location on a hill from which one could see the distant hills.In 1856, John Lewis bought a property and moved his family to South Australia from England.In 1861, a group of buyers set up a racecourse on the property and established a racing club.The first meetings were held in 1862 and 1863. The races were held on Saturdays and people travelled from Adelaide to attend them.
