Named after French botanist Anthelme Thozet, Frenchville is densely populated, with 9,028 people, according to the 2016 census. Fitzroy River flows seven kilometres in the north of the district.

Thozet is known for his considerable contributions to Frenchville. He built the second hotel in Rockhampton. His love for botany motivated him to set up a plant nursery extending up to 70 acres in North Rockhampton. The nursery is a beautiful sight for visitors. It is surrounded by Thozet Creek on one side and the Fitzroy River on the other.

Living in Frenchville Frenchville has its own Post Office located at 378 Dean Street. The site of the Frenchville police station is 171 Dean Street. History of Frenchville Some important institutions in Frenchville include Creek Provisional School, which came up in 1900 and was renamed Frenchman's Creek State School in 1909. The school was again renamed Frenchville State School in 1924. This part of Queensland was completely rural until the late 1960s when development started that transformed the suburb with smallholdings and dairy farms.

In 1948, Frenchville Sports Club came up. Frenchville is home to the North Rockhampton Methodist Church, which was into the Uniting Church in 1977. The church was renamed the North Rockhampton Uniting Church.
