Named after French botanist Anthelme Thozet, Frenchville is densely populated, with 9,028 people, according to the 2016 census. Fitzroy River flows seven kilometres in the north of the district.
Thozet is known for his considerable contributions to Frenchville. He built the second hotel in Rockhampton. His love for botany motivated him to set up a plant nursery extending up to 70 acres in North Rockhampton. The nursery is a beautiful sight for visitors. It is surrounded by Thozet Creek on one side and the Fitzroy River on the other.

In 1948, Frenchville Sports Club came up. Frenchville is home to the North Rockhampton Methodist Church, which was into the Uniting Church in 1977. The church was renamed the North Rockhampton Uniting Church.
