Overview Glenbrook is a settlement in New South Wales, Australia's Lower Highlands. It's also situated 63 km off of Sydney in the City of the Blue Mountains local municipality. History of Glenbrook Glenbrook became a municipality in the 1870s, after the introduction of the railways. A zigzag railroad was erected up Lapstone Hill and towards Weatherboard "Wentworth Falls" in 1867. Moreover, a site called "Wascoe's Siding" was created in Glenbrook, named after a local inn and freshwater nearby Glenbrook Lagoon pump to feed the locomotives after they passed through the Lapstone ZigZag.
Meanwhile, in 1877, the Wasco Branch had become a customer stop. Sir Alfred Stephen, Chief Justice and Privy Councillor, granted the area a signature in 1878, designating it Brookdale. However, that was subsequently renamed to Glenbrook in 1879, presumably after the surrounding stream and Gorge. Sir John Jamison assumed Glenbrook was derived from Regents Glen. Six years later, a community sprung up around the stop and was formally named Glenbrook.
