Overview Glenfield is a suburb of Sydney located 36 kilometres southwest of the Sydney central business district in the state of New South Wales, Australia. As per the 2016 census, the suburb had a population of 9,633 people.

History of Glenfield Glenfield’s name is associated with the property founded by Charles Throsby, an early colonial surgeon and explorer. The suburb was named after that property, and the property was named after the Glenfield in Leicestershire, England. This is the reason many of the area’s streets have links to British names, such as Cambridge Avenue, Trafalgar Street, and Canterbury Road. In 1869, Glenfield railway station was opened, and also it was the first time that Glenfield was used.
