Overview Brisbane’s Griffin suburb is located at the confluence of the North Pine River and Moreton Bay. This Queensland locality is 27 km north of the Brisbane CBD. Once a farming area, it continues to have a beautiful landscape dotted with residential and agricultural zones. Griffin is home to the Osprey House, a modern-day eco-centre with multiple facilities, including boardwalks.

Living in Griffin The suburb is multicultural, with a third of residents from New Zealand, England, Africa, Oceania, China, and Southeast Asia. Griffin has residential areas with a great view of agricultural farms. There is no shortage of stores, schools, gyms, medical centres and other amenities. Murrumba Downs and North Lakes shopping centres are a few minutes drive from Griffin. The North Pine River provides ample scope to enjoy boating, fishing and recreation at Dohles Rocks. Busses connect Griffin to North Lakes bus terminal and train stations. The Bruce Highway helps reach Brisbane and Sunshine Coast in 30-35 minutes.

History of Griffin Griffin was named after a Scottish family that settled in the area. The Griffin family was originally from the Orkney Islands to the extreme north of Scotland. In 1843, Captain Frank Griffin migrated from Sydney to settle in the area. Soon his brothers John and William joined him, and the family set up a large cattle and ship farm. Though the Griffins moved to other sites in the 1910s, the suburb continued to bear the family name.
