Overview Haberfield is a suburb in the Inner West Sydney, New South Wales and is 6.6 kilometres in the western part of the Sydney CBD. This suburb, in the LGA of the Inner West Council, is neighboured by Five Dock, Lilyfieldm Rodd Point, Croydon, Leichardt, Summer Hill, Ashfield, and Lewisham.
Haberfield is on the southern tip of Iron Cove in Sydney Harbour. This suburb had a population of 6,457 people (2016 census).
Living in Haberfield Haberfield has wide leafy streets and intertwining gardens. The strong influence of Italian culture, which can be traced to the arrival of post-war immigrants to the area, is highly evident in the shops lining Ramsay Street.
In the 1970s, Haberfield was known as the garden suburb because its streets were lined with trees. The suburb had well-maintained parks, and most of the houses had clean, tidy, and luscious gardens. The existence of original Federation and Victorian homes had made Haberfield a heritage-listed suburb.

History of Haberfield Haberfield got its name from the Haberfield Estate. Haberfield is the maiden name of real estate agent Richard Stanton's wife.
The area that is Haberfield now, was originally inhabited by the Darug tribe, specifically the Cadigals or Wangals from Eora.
Haberfield was developed in 1901 to contain the outbreak of the bubonic plague in Sydney.
