History Hamilton Hill is a suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, located 23 kilometres southwest of the central business district. Hamilton Hill is the earliest known settler in the area. The place name has been around for almost two centuries. The Robb family was established in the area before Charles Manning bought it in 1860. The Robb family were farmers who often used convict labour to build their homesteads. Robb sold parts of his land to Manning, who built Davilak House for his son Lucius Manning. Twelve years later, Lucius's daughter Azelia Ley married John Morgan Ley and they established their own homestead on the land. After John died, Azelia continued to maintain her family farm. She married again in 1931 but her second husband died soon after and she never remarried, continuing to live on the property until she died in 1954.
