As per the 2016 census, Hamilton has a population of 4,229.

History of Hamilton Hamilton was founded on 11 December 1871, when it was declared as a Municipality. The suburb was named after Edward Terrick Hamilton, a businessman and politician from Britain who spent 15 years as a pastoralist in NSW.
Edward Hamilton was also a board of directors of the Australian Agricultural Company, which played a considerable role in the area's development.
By 1928, Hamilton already had 400 retail outlets, and in 1947, a strong community of new Italian settlers were growing in the area.
