History of Hawthorn
Thousands of years ago, indigenous peoples originally arrived in the area, and only in the late 1830s that European settlers arrived. Hawthorn, which was first registered in 1840 as "Hawthorne," is supposed to have come from Charles La Trobe that a shrub within the area looked like blossoming Hawthorn bushes. Alternatively, the name can also be derived from the bluestone home erected by James Denham St Pinnock and still survives today.
