Overview Heathcote is located 36 kilometres south of the Sydney Central Business District in the Sutherland Shire, New South Wales, Australia. The area shares its boundaries with Engadine in the North and Waterfall in the South. It has Heathcote National Park to its west and The Royal National Park to its east. As per the 2016 population census, there were 6,013 people in the area.

History of Heathcote Heathcote was earlier known as Bottle Forest because, in 1842, there were fourteen town allotments in Bottle Forest. The land where these allotments were made is now Heathcote East. In 1835, a surveyor Sir Thomas Mitchell surveyed the area and named it Heathcote. In 1886, the Heathcote railway station opened, and in 1887, Heathcote Hall was built. The Hall is a grand Victorian house and was considered a symbol of wealth.
