Overview Hillsdale is a suburb nestled in the Bayside Council at the southeast section of Sydney. As part of the eastern community, it is stationed approximately 6 km from the capital. It is hemmed in by Denison Street on the west, Bunnerong Road on the east, Beauchamp Road on the south, and Flint Street and Smith Street on the north. As to the nearby localities, these include Maroubra, Eastgardens, Banksmeadow, and Matraville.
Living in Hillsdale Hillsdale is a tiny suburb on the southeast that features a multicultural mix of locals, from young families to retirees to working professionals. The place itself is filled with many reserves, playgrounds, restaurants, local shops, and more. The commercial hub is positioned along Bunnerong Road on the northeast. And just beside it is the vast Heffron Park, a distinguished recreational site in the area. Even with no significant highways within its zone, it is still very accessible because of its proximity to public transports like the Domestic Airport railway station in Mascot. It also offers a couple of bus stops for added convenience.
History of Hillsdale Hillsdale was once a part of Matraville but was separated in the 1960s. It obtained its current name from a former NSW Deputy Premier, Patrick Darcy Hills. The choice of the name, however, became an issue in the past because many residents opted to have a title that reflects the country’s history. After World War II, this signalled the start of many housing developments in the area.
