History of Jacana The suburb was named after a street that is located east of the Craigieburn railway line. Streets in Jana were first laid out in the early 1920s, which was followed by the sale of lots in the area - most of which was owned by a farmer named Duncan Kennedy. It was only in 1961 when a Post Office opened in the suburb after its population increased.
