Neighbouring Westmeadows are the suburbs of Attwood, Coolaroo, Meadow Heights, Broadmeadows, Tullamarine, and Gladstone Park. The Melbourne Airport is located on the western border of the suburb.
According to the 2016 census, Westmeadows has a population of 5,848.
Living in Westmeadows Despite being close to the Melbourne CBD, Westmeadows is still described by its locals to have a “country feel living”.
The main shopping area in the suburb is at Westmeadows Village shopping mall, where there are restaurants, cafes, a chemist, and a pilates studio. History of Westmeadows The Wurundjeri Aboriginal group are the original inhabitants of the land where Westmeadows is located.
European settlement began here in 1840, where its first settlers were pastoralists. The area’s first township was laid out in 1850, and a decade after, a hotel, police station and the Shire office were already established in the suburb’s commercial centre.
