History of Karama In 1964, Douglas Lockwood pioneered the usage of tribal names for the suburbs, including Karama. Since the 1970s, it has been considered a residential area. During the early years, most of the residents here were from a low socioeconomic position. The homes were generally from government housing. At a certain period, the place was administered by the Karama Ghetto Boyz (KGB), an infamous criminal gang. At this time, Karama became the most dangerous place to live. In the latter years, it transitioned into a real estate hotspot.
