History of Malak Derived from an Aboriginal tribe, Malak's history dates back to the 19th century. There were even alternative spellings of the suburb in the past, including Mulluck, Mulluck, and Mallak. But generally, the name itself is pronounced as "Mulluck". The area development of Malak started in the 1970s up to the 1980s, though it was halted due to Cyclone Tracy in 1974. Decades later, the suburb largely centred more on residential dwellings, with higher allocation for social housing.
