Living in Kleinton Kleinton is a beautiful locality that consists of three bands of separate land-use types. There are rural residential blocks in the South, and they have been established as an extension of the Highfields’ urban sprawl.
The northern part of the area is dedicated to Cooby Dam, while the central part is still undeveloped. Though the central part is not residentially developed, it is used for vegetation. There are no primary or secondary schools in the area, and the nearest ones are in Highfields, Geham, and Meringandan West. The locality is still in the developing stage and away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
History of Kleinton Kleinton was named after Michael Klein, an early selector who was shot dead at Highfields in 1870. The suburb was a stop for the Crows Nest railway line operated between 1883 and 1961. On February 20, 1911, Kleinton State School opened on land donated by the Brazier family, who also owned the local brickworks. However, the school closed in 1970, and later in 1975, the Amaroo Environmental Education Centre opened in the same building where the school was opened.
