Overview Lavington is the largest suburb of the city of Albury, New South Wales, Australia. It is located in the flat floodplain of the Murray River and is surrounded by the Black Range to the North and Nail Can Hill to the West. It is the second major centre of the City of Albury, having its separate commercial CBD. According to the 2016 census, it has a population of 12,472 people.

History of Lavington Aboriginal people inhabited Lavington before European settlement, and people who used to live in the area were of the Wiradjuri tribe. The suburb was known as Black Range and officially named Lavington on June 15, 1909. The area was home to gold mining, prune growing, and orchards, but it became one of the largest locality with numerous shops and recreational facilities. It was formerly part of the Greater Hume Shire and added to the City of Albury during the 1950s.
