Overview Thurgoona is an outer suburb of the city of Albury, New South Wales. It is neighboured by the suburbs of Springdale Heights, Table Top/ Ettamogah, Bowna, Lavington, Wirlinga, East Albury, and Lake Hume.
According to the 2016 census, 8,656 people call Thurgoona their home.
Living in Thurgoona Thurgoona is a “safe and tranquil suburb” ideal for young families. Residents here enjoy a peaceful lifestyle on large residential blocks with pockets of parklands.
The area boasts many local amenities, such as various playgrounds and schools, including the Charles Sturt University and Border Christian College. This shopping centre has a supermarket and local stores, as well as a general practice clinic.

History of Thurgoona A post office in Thurgoona opened in January of 1874 but was closed in 1961.
The first land lease in the area took place in 1978, and during that time, the suburb was undergoing massive development. Roads and highways were built during this time, and the Thurgoona Golf Club was also opened. In the late 1980s, a hotel and a shopping centre were constructed in the suburb. It was also around this time when the Thurgoona Public School and the Thurgoona Industrial Park were opened.
