The suburb is located just a short drive away at seven kilometres from the Central Business District in Melbourne. It is neighboured by the following suburbs: Alfredton and Cardigan.
Living in Lucas The suburb of Lucas is located in the heart of Ballarat's West Growth Zone. It is a newly developed suburb and has a lot to offer its residents, such as modern housing, retail stores, open spaces, etc. It is in proximity to many educational institutes. The suburb has built two retirement villages to accommodate senior residents and provide housing for 40,000 residents in total. Lucas is considered the largest planned community in Ballarat's history, with large chain stores like Woolworths having opened stores here.
History of Lucas Lucas was founded on 23 June 2011 as a suburb and is named after Eleanor Lucas and the staff at her local textile company. Eleanor Lucas, along with other girls known as the "Lucas girls", built Ballarat's Avenue of Honour after World War I. Every street in Lucas was named after a soldier who lost his life in World War I.
