History of Lucas Lucas was founded on 23 June 2011 as a suburb and is named after Eleanor Lucas and the staff at her local textile company. Eleanor Lucas, along with other girls known as the "Lucas girls", built Ballarat's Avenue of Honour after World War I. Every street in Lucas was named after a soldier who lost his life in World War I.
