Marayong is a safe place to live in. It has two government-run primary schools - Marayong Heights Public and Marayong Public. It also has a Catholic primary school (St Andrews Primary) and a high school (St Andrews College).

History of Marayong Marayong was founded in 1926. Marayong got its name from "Mariyung," an Aboriginal word that means a place of the cranes. The New South Wales Railways that opened in October 1922 was the first to be given the name Marayong.
Large areas were later subdivided to establish poultry farms and market gardens as part of Quakers Hill. In 1926, there was an application by the Marayong Progress Association to make Marayong an independent suburb.
Marayong used to be a rural suburb. The opening of public housing estates in the 1960s ushered in the urbanisation of Marayong. Most of the housing estates were located in the southern portion of the railway line. An industrial area was also earmarked the northern part of the railway line.
