Overview Located 34 km Sydney CBD and 10 km west of Paramatta, Blacktown is the most populated of all Greater Western Sydney area suburbs. According to the 2016 census, it had 47,176 residents. Blacktown also prides itself on being the most multicultural locality in NSW, with many residents from Australia, India, China, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Philippines, New Zealand, the Middle East and Fiji. It has Kings Park to the north, Bungarribee to the west, Prospect to the south and Seven Hills.

Living in Blacktown Blacktown is an excellent place to live. The active city council continuously develops the area, and many professionals are moving to the suburb. History of Blacktown The Darug people dominated Blacktown before the arrival of the English. While smallpox wiped out most Aboriginals there, the European settlers began farming activities from 1791 onwards. Many living Aboriginals also received land grants for their assistance. The Native Institution was shifted to Blacktown in 1823, attesting to the importance of the area. By 1860, it had a railway station.

The Shire of Blacktown came up in 1906, and the next three decades saw its population growing close to 15,000. There was massive suburban growth in the 1950s and 1960s, leading to many schools, colleges and residential areas. The Westpoint shopping centre was inaugurated in 1973.
