In the 2016 census, the population of Mount Crosby was recorded as 1,832 people.

There are many parks in the area, and some notable ones include Banksia Drive Reserve, Jack Kerr Court Park, Bullock Dray Road Park, Platypus Park, and Stumers Road Reserve. The locality is known to supply water to Brisbane through Mount Crosby Eastbank Water Treatment Plant, Wier and Pumping Station, and Camerons Hill Reservoirs. There are no schools in Mount Crosby, and Mount Crosby State School is also located in neighbouring Karana Downs. It has several heritage-listed sites and facilities close enough to reach via own vehicle or public transport.
History of Mount Crosby The Jagera Aboriginal people inhabited Mount Crosby. They also had a ceremonial ground on the slopes of Mount Elphinstone and Bellbowrie. In 1824, John Oxley explored the Brisbane River and climbed the mountain with his fellow Lieutenant Butler. The mountain they climbed is now known as Mount Crosby, but it was named Belle Vue Mountain earlier. In the same year, Allan Cunningham explored the Brisbane River’s shallow part, which is now the locality of Mount Crosby. In 1882, the Crosby postal receiving office opened, and it was renamed Mount Crosby receiving office in 1917. The residential development started in the early 1940s when approximately 40 acres of land was sold to Scouts Australia.
