Overview Mount Larcom is a small community in the Gladstone region. The suburb is around 70 kilometres south of Rockhampton, near the junction of the Bruce Highway and the Gladstone Mt. Larcom Road.
The mountain rises to 632 metres and is located just east of the municipality, and is a prominent sight on the horizon, particularly from Gladstone. Mount Larcom has a population of 1119 people, according to the 2016 census.

The actual municipality of Mount Larcom was established in 1915. History of Mount Larcom On the 4th of August, 1802, Commander Matthew Flinders called Mount Larcom (the mountain) after a Royal Navy comrade, Captain Thomas Larcom. For most of the colonial era, the name of the territory around the mountain was spelt Mount Larcombe. In the early 1900s, the spelling was changed to Mount Larcom. The British colonial Government of New South Wales determined that the area was suitable for pastoral cultivation in 1854. Moreover, the Mount Larcombe sheep station was created by William Young, a Scottish colonist and former Gayndah storekeeper.
