Overview Newhaven is a municipality in the south Gippsland area of Victoria, Australia. It is the suburb on the end of the bridge's island connecting Phillip Island to the mainland, near the strait called The Narrows. According to the 2016 census, Newhaven has a population of 3,377 people. The neighbourhood's industry is mainly built on retirement life and the tourist industry. Living in Newhaven Newhaven is well-known for its recently constructed yacht club, renowned marina, and the newest Seawater Phillip Island eatery near a neighbouring pier. History of Newhaven One of Phillip Island's four communities, Newhaven, was an agricultural and fishing hamlet. Woody Point was another name for it. In 1890, an educational institution was established, and in 1914, the Newhaven Boys' Home was founded. The isolation of Newhaven made it an ideal location for wayward children. Moreover, in 1921, the Seaside Garden Home, a comparable facility, opened. By then, Newhaven had four modest hotels, some boat construction, and a punt over the Eastern Passage (1928).
