Overview Newington is a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales. Located near Homebush, Lidcombe, Silverwater and Wentworth Point, Newington is famous for being the location of the 2000 Summer Paralympics and 2000 Summer Olympics' Athletes Village.

Wann clan's traditional aboriginal lands are where the suburb is situated. John Blaxland acquired 520 hectares of this land in 1807. On the Parramatta River's blanks, the salt pans' series was established by him. In 1832, Newington House had been completed, and 1838 marks St Augustine's Chapel's completion. In 1874, due to the Insane, the government got its first offering to use the Newington Estate as an Asylum. However, the offer wasn't accepted.
