In 1837 Robert Hoddle surveyed the land of what is now Reservoir. By 1854, The rose Shamrock & Thistle opened in the area. These reservoirs were collectively called Preston Reservoir, and today, they continue to partly supply fresh water to Melbourne's inner and western suburbs.
