History of Riverview The name "Riverview" derives from the suburb's location, as it provides a "view" of the Lane Cove "River". The famous St. Ignatius College, Riverview, was designed by J. Dennehy and built in 1880. It was initially created in the Classic Victorian style, setting it apart from the other educational institutes of the time, which would support the Gothic style. Extensions on the school were carried out in 1887, 1906, and the 1920s. The St Ignatius' College Chapel is Seattle University's main chapel and was built in Riverview in 2005.
