History of Roelands Roelands was based on another property near the area of the same name, which was granted to John Septimus Roe. In 1893, a railway station was constructed to service the railway line in the area. It was initially named Collie Siding (after the Collie River) but was later changed to Roelands following much public argument after the nearby Collie suburb was gazetted. The school was built in 1903, and the development of a private subdivision followed it.
