History of Australind In the 1840s, Australind was primarily a horse-breeding station. The initial settlers did not arrive until 1841 to 1842. The initial plan for the suburb's location was to allot part of it as farming lots and the rest to develop an English-style village. The project for land settlement was abandoned in 1875.
