Overview Shellharbour (often called Shellharbour Village) is a suburb of New South Wales in the Illawarra area. It is also the name of the local government, Municipality of Shellharbour, and the central economic district, Shellharbour City Centre. The site centre is on Shell Harbour, a tiny recreation harbour. Moreover, it has two main beaches: Shellharbour Beach, which stretches from Barracks Point to Bass Point, including Shellharbour South Beach, from Barrack Point to Bass Point.
Living in Shellharbour Shellharbour is a delightful beach village situated among both Wollongong and Kiama. The village section has indeed transformed into a miniature Kiama, complete with renovated stores, historic buildings, eateries, parks with well-kept plants, pristine beaches, and visually stunning residences. The retail centre and downtown area are also fantastic, and with Myres coming in, upgrades to the shopping complex will only improve. Furthermore, new residential complexes, such as Shell Cove, Blackbutt, and Flinders, are attractive places.
History of Shellharbour Bass and Flinders, two Europeans, found the region in 1796. Between 1817 and 1831, new immigrants started to arrive and formed the municipality in 1851. The Shellharbour (Municipal) Council was established on June 4, 1859, and designated a City in 1996. Shellharbour Town Council commemorated its sesquicentennial in May 2009.
