Overview Shelly Beach is a coastal suburb of Caloundra in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. It is located 2 km northeast of Caloundra’s City centre and lies between Moffat and Caloundra Heads. As recorded in the 2016 census, it had a population of 854 people.

Living in Shelly Beach Shelly Beach is one of Queensland’s hidden gems. It is a beautiful stretch of oceanfront that sits between other well known Sunshine Coast beaches. However, the place is famous for white sands and picturesque ocean views. There is also a park near the beach with undercover tables making it an ideal spot for a beachside picnic. Moreover, Shelly Beach has a corner shopping area and a walking trail. As far as real estate is concerned, there aren’t many houses in the area, and some fibro houses are refurbished. History of Shelly Beach Shelly Beach was the site of the first hotel in Caloundra, which was located at the corner of Alfred Street and Victoria Terrace. During World War II, the region was off-limits with barbed-wire defences. In 1906, the Hotel Francis replaced the original hotel and later became a popular meeting place for the Caloundra community.
