Overview Shelly Beach is a coastal suburb of Caloundra in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. It is located 2 km northeast of Caloundra’s City centre and lies between Moffat and Caloundra Heads. As recorded in the 2016 census, it had a population of 854 people.

History of Shelly Beach Shelly Beach was the site of the first hotel in Caloundra, which was located at the corner of Alfred Street and Victoria Terrace. During World War II, the region was off-limits with barbed-wire defences. In 1906, the Hotel Francis replaced the original hotel and later became a popular meeting place for the Caloundra community.
