Overview Southbrook is a rural town in the Toowoomba region of Queensland, situated in North-Eastern Australia. As of the 2016 census, Southbrook had a population of 600 individuals. It is neighboured by the following suburbs: Linthorpe, Broxburn, Biddeston, Felton, Athol, Umbrian, and Cambooya.
Living in Southbrook Southbrook is a rural town where the residents get to enjoy a pure country feeling. The suburb has a tight-knit community where all the residents know each other. It is also home to the Southbrook Central State School, a co-ed Government Primary School. In 2017, the school had a total of 67 students and five teachers. Southbrook is a short drive away from the Prestbury Farmstay, where visitors can enjoy activities like bushwalking, campfires, cycling, fishing, 4WD farm tours, swimming, and tennis.
History of Southbrook Up until the 1880s, the area of Southbrook was used for raising livestock. Then, it began seeing development with the introduction of dairying and cropping the in town. In early settlement days, Southbrook had a store, a hotel, and two cheese factories. Soon, the suburb became a stop on the Millmerran Railway Line. The St. Mary’s Anglican Church was dedicated by Venerable A.E. David, Archdeacon of Brisbane, on 30 July 1904, and it closed on 12 May 1996.
