History of Spring Creek The history of Spring Creek is filled with correctional facilities and provisional schools. In 1882, the Clarendon Provisional School was opened. It was eventually renamed the Springdale Provisional School. It only closed in 1909. While there is no more remnant of that provisional school that would be found in the area, the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre was established in January 2012. To date, the facility is still a functional correctional facility.
