History of St Andrews It originated with the name of Queenstown; in 1858. On the 25th of February 1861, a town was proclaimed. However, it began to be recognised as St Andrews by 1965. The high number of Scottish miners' presence brought about the name change. 1st of January 1856 marks the early opening of St Andrew post office, and ultimately in 1923, it was renamed St Andrews. For the ATO statistics, it was called Victoria's Wealthiest Town in the April of 2015. On the 7th of February 2009, houses on Olivers lane, Butterman's Track, Muller, Ninks and Jacksons, and Wild Dog Creek Roads were destroyed by a great bushfire.
