History of Tamarama European settlers first named the suburb Dixon Bay, and it was changed to Tamarama in the 1800s. In 1887, the first coastal amusement park of Sydney opened at Tamarama, and it was named The Bondi Aquarium. It was such a sight to behold, but in 1891 a fire destroyed the aquarium and pavilion. The same year, it was constructed again and continued to entertain people in Sydney.
